GFWC-NC Bus Trip to DC

GFWC-NC Making History in Washington, D.C.— Join Us!

 

Leaving on a Tour Bus Thursday morning, February 5th with pick-ups in

Charlotte, Greensboro, Raleigh, and Roanoke Rapids, we’ll head to

Old Town Alexandria, Virginia and stay at the four-star Hotel Monaco

Alexandria on the famous King St.  Friday, we will enjoy photo ops all day,

beginning our day with a tour of the underground Senate Chamber as guests of NC Senator Richard Burr.  We’ll enjoy lunch near GFWC Headquarters, and then we will tour GFWC Headquarters and make a presentation to GFWC President Rose Ditto for the 25th Anniversary of the Women’s History and Resource Center. Additionally, the President of the Women’s History Museum, Joan Wages, will join us for the presentation.  We will return to Alexandria to enjoy a nice dinner and then proceed on a ‘Twilight Tour’ of the ‘Capitol Monuments and Lights.’  Get a good night’s sleep because the shoppers will be let loose on Old Town’s delights until after lunch Saturday.  Those not much into shopping can sleep late and then take the trolley to an interesting tavern for lunch.  If you missed the ‘Twilight Tour,’ the bus will return to DC for museum and monument tours that afternoon. We plan to spend the evening seeing the Capitol Steps, which is a famous musical satire that should be wonderful with all the new politicians in DC. The show is located at the Reagan Building and International Trade Center where we will eat prior to the show.  After all this stimulation you get to come back and pack—for we leave on Sunday the 8th and head home to the Tarheel State.  Oh, what fun you will miss if you do not join this crew as they ‘step out’ in DC. Cost is $400 per person and includes: round trip bus fare, double occupancy four-star hotel accommodations including all taxes, and Capitol Steps tickets.  All meals and shopping are on your own.
